Sheep and Lambs

Continued from here ..... ...so I left Indy and drove to a small town outside Lexington, KY where The Crazy Sheep Lady (Sara) and her sainted husband Tim live along with a  small mixed flock of sheep, a   horse, dogs, cats & chickens .  I'd guess I've been reading Sara's blog for about 10 years.  She takes great candid photos around the farm, knits (and re-knits) amazing sweaters, spins yarn from her own sheep, paints, felts, herds neighbors wayward sheep, helps with lambing at Final Frontier Farm in Paris, KY and who knows what else :D    Needless to say I am very grateful she was so accommodating to take time out of her day to show me around her place and take me over to FFF to snorgle lambs:D First stop - the barn.  I had brought a box of Cheerios and some Animal Crackers to treat the sheep (and dogs) but Sara was wise to remind me that those are ingredients for a Sheep Stampede so I left them in a safe place to start. A Fibery Weekend

A few weeks back I saw an ad for ' The Fiber Event ' while perusing Ravelry .   Oh look!  It's only an hour from my Brother & Sister-in-Law in Indianapolis.  I'll bet they'd LOVE to have me stay with them (for FIVE days, haha!)  Oh look!   Briar Rose Fibers  !!    one of my favorite vendors will be there! Hmm...there is a   'Spinning Luxury Fibers' workshop  taught by  Kate Larson .  And it's not full or expensive! Oh Look!  The Crazy Sheep Lady  (Sara) lives right on my travel route.  And there is Lamb Camp !!! That's it, I'm SO going! And I did :)  I called my brother & SIL and they were too happy to have me stay with them.  So I signed up for the workshop, sent an email to Sara, strapped my spinning wheel into the back seat of Vera and headed North. Vera The 8 hour drive was uneventful and I only ran into rain about 2 hours south of Indy.  My workshop was 9am Saturday morning so SIL and I went out to Putnam Fairgrounds

Breakfast Above the Clouds

Jeff & I started out in the dark, headed for the Pisgah Inn Restaurant.  We met up with another couple and once it got light enough enjoyed a sporty ride up back roads to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
